Description

Mass movements of people wandering the desert of the real. What happens when we finally step into the promised land?

Following not too far behind a fragmented exodus of masses seeking endlessly a place free of systemic degradation.

The journeyman (road man) gains through his travels and through sharing of knowledge.

 Everything comes back to listening.

For when the illusion of an objective world ceases so the new can be actualized in that same moment.

As part of his residency at Eaton Workshop, Littlebird will host daily open studio sessions during Indigenous Peoples Month from November 1st to November 8th to produce work for his forthcoming show “A Fragmented Exodus” opening at the gallery on November 9th.

Littlebird will lead visitors through daily, durational performances that will be framed as “open studio” events. During these sessions, he will lead participants through a series of “Coyote Strategies” to immerse them in his personal art practice as he explores his relationship to the idea of promised land.

The collective works created throughout this residency will be displayed at Eaton starting November 9th to December 10th.

Littlebird will close out his residency with a formal workshop on putting Decolonial Praxis in action through art, informed by his experiences as a contemporary Puebloan artist on November 10th. This is an opportunity for artists and non-artists alike to learn about the history of colonization and its effects on contemporary Puebloans, as well as the ways that Littlebird has used art to resist colonialism.
